132 Bodies Of Dana Crash Victims Ready For Collection – LASG

The Lagos State Government says 132 bodies of victims of the Dana plane crash are ready for collection by their relatives.
This followed the arrival of the bodies from the UK after the   Deoxynubonucleic acid results (DNA).
DNA or deoxyribonucleic acid is the hereditary material in humans and almost all other organisms.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, disclosed this at a meeting with the relatives of the deceased at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja (LASUTH) on Wednesday.
Idris said, “We have got some of the results of the DNA analysis from the UK.
“The experts have revealed the results and we felt it necessary to brief the victims on the processes and documentation needed to claim the bodies.
“We will release the bodies in batches of 20 in alphabetical order daily from Thursday, to reduce the chaos and to resolve some legal processes needed to claim the bodies”.
Idris said that the names of the already identified victims would be pasted at the Lekan Ogunshola Memorial House.
He advised the relatives to come with the appropriate documents to claim the bodies.
Also, Prof. John Obafunwa, the hospital Chief Pathologist and Chief Medical Examiner, said that 16 other bodies were still being processed.
Obafunwa said that the corpses would only be released to their next of kin after presentation of necessary documents.
He listed the order of priority for the next of kin as spouses, children, parents, siblings, half brothers and sisters, grandparents, nephews and nieces.
“The next of kin is in this order and they have to present legal documents before the bodies would be released to them.
“But, in the case where the next of kin is not available, he or she has to authorise someone else to collect the body with appropriate identification.
“The authorised person has to come with the driver’s licence, national identity card, international passport and letter of authorisation by the next of kin.” he said. (NAN)

Gollywood Actor John Dumelo is not a Hypocrite. Owns Up Screwing Some Girls on Set.

Gollywood Actor John Dumelo is not a Hypocrite. Owns Up Screwing Some Girls on Set.
“I’m not gay, I can never be gay, not in my wildest dreams. I love you know ‘errrrm’ women. The gay thing you saw on screen is just a character I played in a film in Nigeria.
It’s not real, I only interpreted a character. People who know me know I’m not gay. Most people think that I screw a lot of girls on set which is not true, but a little bit of it is true.”

Is Justing Bieber Losing It? Disparaging Remarks About Prince William Sparks International Outrage

I can only imagine what was going on in the mind of 18 year old Canadian born singer- song writer, musician and actor  when he threw sore grapes at the  and second in the line of succession to the  royal throne, .
In an interview with Great Britain’s Rollercoaster magazine, the formerly shaggy-haired singer took aim at royalty and said of ’s scalp:
“I mean, there are things to prevent that nowadays… I don’t know why he doesn’t just get those things, those products [cuts in... hello, are you high on something?].You just take Propecia and your hair grows back. Have you not got it over here?”
According to journalist Jessica Callancitizens (via The Huffington Post), residents “are viewing ’s diss about ’s challenging hair problem in the same way you view an annoying fly buzzing around you. He needs to be swatted away…  and Prince Harry may joke about William’s thinning hair, but that doesn’t mean a kid like Justin can come sauntering in and join in the joke.”
What’s your take on ’s comments? Do you think he went over the board on this one or people are just over-reacting because even his most loyal  fans aren’t finding this joke funny at all.

His charge sheet stated that the accused had, on February 10, 2012, attempted to murder one Blessing Isabor by shooting her with his “K2 police service gun with serial number ’64487′, which inflicted injury on her left cheek.”
The sheet further stated that the offence contravened section 228(1) and was punishable under section 288(2) of the criminal law of Lagos State Cap17 vol.44 laws of Lagos state of Nigeria 2011.
Blessing was also in court, with a huge bandage on her left cheek.
Her family expressed sadness over the incident, saying she would need more than of N3.5 million to undergo a plastic surgery to regain her old look.
The magistrate, J. A. Anabor, however, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000.
The case was adjourned to October 19, 2012 for further hearing.
It will be recalled that Okujo was earlier accused of also kidnapping Blessing’s 18 year-old sister, Patience, who was said to be his girlfriend.
However, Patience later claimed that she had willingly eloped with Okujo after the shooting, because she was carrying his baby.
However, this did not quell the Isabor family’s desire for justice, as they vowed to see Okujo punished for shooting Blessing.

Real Madrid To Sign Luka Modric For €30 Million Ultimatum

Real Madrid have handed Tottenham a €30 million 'take it or leave it' bid for Luka Modric, which has been rejected, according to ESPN sources.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has set the price for the Croatian midfielder at around £40 million, though £35 million (plus success-dependent add-on clauses) would be enough to clinch the deal.

But Real are refusing to bid that high, and have told Levy that their latest offer will be their last - meaning Spurs are now "stuck with" the unhappy Modric as there are no other clubs willing to meet the North Londoners' valuation.

An ESPN source says: "A year ago Daniel Levy could have sold Modric to Chelsea for £40 million but turned it down, believing that in a year's time he would be worth £50 million.

"Well, the feeling was that he couldn't possibly have such a brilliant season as he had the year before, and his price has not gone up. Even if one of the big-spending clubs came in, they would be wasting their time as the player has made it clear he only wants to go to Real Madrid. Unless something gives, and it doesn't look that way at the moment, then Spurs are stuck with Modric."

Spurs fans might feel that Modric is a good player to be "stuck with", but new manager Andres Villa-Boas has his work cut out to motivate him if, as now looks likely, his dream move to Real collapses.

Kanye West Calls Kim Kardashian “The Perfect Bitch”

Well our ways are just so different and as the popular saying goes, “one man’s meat is another’s poison.” is a ! And we didn’t say it, but  did. Confirming this on social media networking site twitter, Kanye had tweeted that the track “Perfect ” – which he debuted during a performance in New York City last week – is, indeed, dedicated to his reality star girl friend.
Simply put, “I wrote the song Perfect  about Kim,” West wrote on his timeline.
No word yet on when the song  be officially released, but a Kanye insider tells reveals its lyrics are “about his search for the perfect woman and how he has now found the ‘perfect .”
That’s sweet. We suppose. It seems like Kim’s influence  be all over Kanye’s new album.

7 Missing Cameroonian Athletes May Want Asylum

Seven Cameroon athletes who left the Olympic village in the dead of night may be seeking new homes and better sports opportunities elsewhere, a Cameroon Olympic official said Wednesday.
The seven Olympians have valid U.K. visas that would allow them to stay in Britain for six months, press attaché Emmanuel Tataw told The Associated Press, noting this has happened before to Olympic squads competing at tournaments in Melbourne and Athens. "Most of the time they don't come back," he said.
Cameroon sent 37 athletes to the London games and more than half of them, mostly the women's soccer team, had left the city after they were eliminated. The missing athletes include five boxers, a swimmer and a soccer player, all of whom had completed their events, he said.
Tataw said the five boxers also had Schengen visas because they had trained in Italy before the games. That would make it easier for them to travel legally to other European countries, including France, which has a large Cameroonian community that includes some athletes' friends and family.
London Olympic officials said even though Cameroon officials were seeking help in locating the athletes, they had not breached their visas or violated any immigration laws.

HIV Infected Mothers Can Breast Feed Their Babies- Experts

Following the lingering controversy surrounding HIV positive mothers and breast-feeding, health experts say putting the baby to the breast was the best option for the child.
Some of the experts who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Monday, said that the six-month exclusive breast feeding was important for the baby, even if the mother was infected with the virus.
According to them, women living with the virus should be encouraged to breast-feed their babies without any fear of transmitting the virus to the babies.
Dr Abimbola Ajayi, Deputy Director, Nutrition, Lagos State Ministry of Health, told NAN that the current goal of the National Guideline on Infant Feeding was that of free survival of HIV exposed infants.
She added that the recommendation was that such infants were breast-fed exclusively for the first six months and given supplementary food with breast milk from six to 12 months, while mother and child were placed on Nevirapine– an anti retro-viral drug. Ajayi added that studies had shown that Nevirapine significantly reduced the risk of Mother-to-Child transmission of HIV, if used judiciously and appropriately.
“Breast milk is always better for any child than any formula milk, even for babies who have HIV infected mothers.
“Placing both mother and child on Nevirapine can help reduce mother-to-child transmission and it is advisable that women living with HIV breast-feed their babies.
“Breast-milk has nutrients which have not even been discovered yet and is better for the baby than goat milk,”she said.
The National President, Medical Women Association of Nigeria, Dr Dumebi Owa, told NAN that the risk of a child getting HIV from an infected mother was lower than the risk of a child contacting childhood diseases due to lack of breast-milk.
Owa said that lack of adequate breast milk in the first six months of a baby’s life could cause a lot of diseases, which have contributed to the high infant mortality rate being recorded in the country.
She said it was imperative for a woman, who had just delivered, irrespective of her HIV status, to breast-feed her baby for six months exclusively, to ensure the good health of the baby.
“As long as both mother and child are placed on proper anti retro-viral treatment, the risk of the child getting infected is reduced.
“Breast milk is considered the best food for any newborn child and no child should be denied the right to life.
“It is important that HIV infected mothers understand this, so that they can breast-feed their children and ensure the proper growth and development of the child,” she said. (NAN)

Nigeria: When Are We Going To Learn Our Lesson?

The sight was a gory one, the fire something close to hell; the fumes roared like a lion, the explosion was so thunderous more like a quake that it shook the surrounding earth surface as though rapture has come. The whole scene was no doubt better imagined than witnessed, the wailings of all those trapped in the inferno rented the air, they cried for the avoidable unfortunate fate that has befallen them. Were they successful, this week would have been one they wouldn’t forget in a hurry as they would have made some thousands from the sale of their loot but just as the saying goes “one day monkey go go market e no go come back”. That cool Thursday morning, they all went to the market but couldn’t find their ways back home as they couldn’t turn the hands of fate.
The foregoing was the atmosphere at Ahoada, a little village in rivers state whose villagers rushed to eternity as a result of scooping the dreaded crude substance from a tanker that has just suffered an accident. Instead of attending to the crash victims, they resorted to reaping where they haven’t sowed in betrayal of the biblical instructions and as fate could have it, the liquid substance wrought into a big bang resulting into an explosion that left a good number of them reduced to rubbles and a lot more writhing in pains in their hospital beds as a result of the degrees of burns they suffered. And you could imagine, was it all worth it? Is that the best way for one to die? Obviously, the answers are all in the negative.
It is the rather unfortunate scenario or incident that forced me to pick up my little pen which literary pundits say is mightier than the sword to write on the carelessness of my fellow country men and women that have forever left us all at the receiving end. But for the avoidable tragic incidents, all those who got engulfed in that inferno would have been in their respective houses or places of work doing one thing or the other while hoping for a better tomorrow even though it promises not to be in sight, forgive my pessimism. But on the contrary out of reasons which I don’t want to dissociate from greed they all met their waterloo and to a great extent made a few others who weren’t involved in the act of scooping the petroleum product, victims of circumstance.
When in God’s name are we going to learn our lessons? When are we going to realize the sacrosanct and sanctity of the human life which is a rare gift that comes only but once in a lifetime? Times without number, in the same state there have been exactly the same scenario and people burning up in flames yet the same people who sympathized with the earlier victims still go back to scoop the crude substance whenever a spill occurs and at the end of the day, they are quick to blame the government for being responsible for their misfortunes………………No way.
As i was going through the report on one of the national dailies that widely reported the unfortunate disaster, I came across a paragraph where an anonymous blamed it all on the slow response of the fire fighters, his point was that if the fire fighters had arrived the scene on time, the damages wouldn’t have been fatal the way it finally did. No doubt he has a nice argument but permit me to ask you Mr. anonymous, what happened to the adage that “prevention is better than cure”?Which nearly 60% of Nigerians know too well and understands. What happened to the dictum that “a stitch in time saves nine”? the truth is that we are always quick to blame the government for every single misfortune that comes our way but in our various communities we have not attended to the most little of problems that bedevil our existence as  humans.
Had all those people who lost their lives evacuated from the vicinity of the mishap and alerted the requisite agency, the story would have been a different thing entirely. Even though the explosion was inevitable, at least human lives wouldn’t have been lost. It is true that properties running into millions would have been lost. Yes, but then the ball would have been on the government’s court to give out relief materials to victims who lost a great deal at least a quantum meruit as they have always done in previous concurrencies. What more! You can always replace any material thing but not life. Not even the greatest of scientists has taken a dare.
But on the contrary, they refused to be precautionary; they chose to make quick cash for inordinate reasons and in the process paid a price too high. Nobody cared to bat an eyelid, everybody joined in the “sin” which ultimately brought them all to their early vault. Father’s in the company of their wives and children all joined to play games with the devil and at the end of the day; they all ended up in one single grave reduced to their ashes. It is really a pathetic one I must say. God have mercy on us all.
It is high time Nigerians knew that we as a nation have attained a certain height whether we like it or not, we have rummaged a platform where certain ill news shouldn’t be heard in our climes again so that we can all join hands together to be that vanguard of change in order to eat in the same plate with other nations who have attained the height as developed nations if not for anything, for the sake of posterity. We should no longer race to our early vault for some filthy reasons. Yes it is true that a good number of the victims joined in the trade out of reasons too hard to be separated from poverty. But have they all now become rich? Has the end justified the means either? Of course they haven’t and the bigger hope of becoming rich someday lost in oblivion.
The incident is already in the past tense and this piece no doubt  somewhat coming late but the message therein not tempered with in any way. The dead have all been buried even though the toll keeps rising at the birth of every day. The government has done reasonably well in footing the bills of all those hospitalized and the family of the deceased drying their tears every new day. What more can we say, but to ask for the souls of the departed to be received in the bosom of our lord. To the families of the deceased, may God grant the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude. It is no doubt a sad one and another deficit on our part as a nation. God bless Nigeria.

According to the news, an unknown man armed with heavy weapons and with a determination to kill as many as possible people as he can made his plans real when he stepped into a Cinema hall in Aurora, Colorado and opened fire on the Cinema crowd thereby causing the death of over 15 people and hospitalization of over 50. If not for the timely intervention of the Police, he would have made his way out of the crime scene.

Colorado massacre puts politics on hold in America

One of the victims of the massacre, 24 year old Jessica Redfield was a radio personality and blogger

Hours after the tragic Colorado shooting happened, politics in America has been put on hold.
1. Obama cut short his campaign trip in Florida...and has already addressed the tragic incident on TV
2. Vice president Biden and First Lady Michelle Obama have canceled their activities for the day
3. Mitt Romney's campaign announced all campaign ads in Colorado would be pulled until further notice
4. Senate minority leader, Mitch McConnell, set aside his scheduled session with reporters on Capitol Hill
5. Nevada State Democratic Party postponed a news conference

Also, Warner Bros has cancelled the Paris premiere of the Dark Knight that was to take place tonight.

I hope some people will take a cue from this...

BBA: Goldie's Eviction

Finally one of Big Brother StarGame’s most famous love affairs came to an abrupt end on July 15 as Nigeria’s Goldie was evicted from Upville after receiving the fewest country votes from the continent. In a moment of cliffhanger, the bombshell hit the Nigerian representative like a bolt from the blue. Apparently it did not occur to her that she was expendable. After a lame goodbye hug to her Kenyan lover, Prezzo, Goldie broke down in tears before finally leaving the house.
The implication of the pop singer’s exit is that for the first time in four years, the Nigerian flag failed to fly to the end in the keenly watched reality game that has become the continent’s biggest TV addiction. Goldie’s eviction completed a cycle of disappointment started earlier with the unceremonious exit of the Nigerian representatives in Downville, Ola and Chris.
Goldie most likely would suffer further emotional constipation by the time she reviews her stay in the house and discover that she was involved in a one-sided romance. Will she be horrified to discover that the man she loved actually nominated her for eviction two weeks ago?
It is not a sin to play the romance card in the house. After all love, kiss and sex are the icings on the Big Brother’s cake. The caveat, however, is that such can boomerang. In the case of Goldie, she unwittingly set herself up for exploitation. Firmly in the grip of love, she became somewhat subservient to Prezzo’s whims and caprices, a man who on the other hand turned out to be a “bingo”, who spent his time dinning, wining and wenching.  In return, he played the love role, filling her ears with sweet-nothings. In the end, she was so blinded by love she ended up a Prezzo pawn.
How could she be that gullible? That is the question on the lips of many Nigerian fans of the reality TV. Many Nigerians are of the opinion that she misrepresented Nigeria, especially when she is profiled side by side with Karen Igho, the Nigerian representative in the last BBA, a model with boob job who turned slyness to such a fine art that won her the ultimate prize.
More rationally, Goldie’s overall performance conjured a counter image of her. The Goldie we used to know – clad in leather, holding leather whip, reeling out tough lyrics - was a toughie, a tomboy, a no-nonsense gal with element of Lady Gaga’s angst and antics.  In The BBA StarGame, her hidden depth came to life, and shockingly, she came across as soft and vulnerable.
As a result, she became the ace up Prezzo’s sleeve, a sly player who had no scruples about exploiting their supposed ‘love’ as a game to stay in the competition. When he found himself at crossroads he did not hesitate to sacrifice her to save his own neck, by nominating her for eviction two weeks before Goldie’s eventual exit.
Argued back and forth, the bottomline remains that Goldie’s romance with Prezzo was her undoing. For a start, they are an odd couple, with hardly anything in common in look or outlook. “For God’ sake what is she doing with this hunter from Kenya?” a colleague asked in exasperation when their romance was warming up.  Even when it comes to feelings, Goldie did the real loving, while Prezzo acted a script. The handwriting was on the wall since when a flirty Liberian gal, Zainab, joined Upville and Prezzo’s attention temporarily strayed to her. During a run-in between his two love interests, the Kenyan rapper bragged to his Ghanaian inmate, Keitta, that ‘They didn’t know that they were playing themselves. I’m too experienced.’  Cold and calculative, he lived by the Machiavellian creed: the end justifies the means. And true to his nature, soon after Goldie became the Head of House, Prezzo quickly made up with her.
That she is so naïve not to see through Prezzo’s smokescreen is the reason Nigerians are angry with Goldie. Nollywood star actress Kate Henshaw was one out of the multitude of Nigerians who felt bad about the unequal love equation Goldie got herself into.
“[I] really don’t want to [talk about this] but jeeez (Jesus)! This BBA that has the Nigerian girl (Goldie) and this Kenyan guy (Prezzo) is pissing me off!
In the final minutes of her eviction, Goldie learnt one home truth. She was shocked to learn that she had been nominated by Ghanaian Keitta, whom she thought they had an ‘understanding’ with. Does anyone blame Keitta? After all, Goldie once replaced Prezzo with Keitta on June 18, 2012, when the chips were down and she was called upon in her capacity as the Head of the House to do the ‘Save and Replace’.
After her eviction, Goldie was slow in waking up from her daydreaming. When quizzed about finding love in the house she replied lamely that you never really know what happens – “you meet people, you develop feelings for them and that’s all”. Asked to define her relationship with Prezzo, a downcast Goldie confessed she had “come to care for him very much”.
Now with her exit, it will be interesting to see how Prezzo fares in the house on his own as the remaining nine housemates in the game continue in their quest for the USD 300 000 prize for the next 21 days. What is next for Goldie? No qualms really. After all the BBA is a game. She came, she saw, but she failed to conquer. Life continues

Perm Sec appointment: More angry Nigerians lambast Dame Jonathan, Bayelsa gov

More angry Nigerians are still reacting to the recent appointment of First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan as a Permanent Secretary by the Bayelsa State  Government.
Below are the verdicts of some of those that spoke with Entertainment Express in a recent vox pop.

Elizabeth Onukuwa, student (UNIPORT)
I don’t think it is right.  Moreover, this is not the first time this charade is taking place - she didn’t schooled in UNIPORT, yet they gave her a BSc degree, meaning that right now she is a guaduate. Well, that is Nigeria for you, there is nothing we can do about it, even if we keep on fighting everyday, we still can’t change it.

Favour Ikechukwu, Business woman
It depends on the reason why she was appointed the Permanent Secretary in the first place. But it’s not right, because she had left the civil service for long, which means maybe they are sure she can handle the position; however, based on record, there is no indication that she can handle the post.
Stanilus Obiamakeze, Business Man
All I have to say is that, the government of this country love to recycle people, and if you don’t belong to the elite, you will not be in high position. So I’m not surprise that the woman was made Permanent Secretary. After all, once you are in the government, it is assumed your family has the capability to run the affairs of this country. This kind of orientation doesn’t move a country forward because there are a thousand and one people that are capable of handling that position.
Yinka Kareem,  IT developer
Definitely the appointment is not right. She has not been effective in the post she is currently occupying as the First Lady, so why appoint her as a permanent secretary? Anyway, that is the state of our country. We are used to it. But we pray for God’s intervention.
Omo Paul
That position should be for someone else and not for the First Lady. She should concentrate on what she is doing with her husband. Or is it that there is nobody else who can be the permanent secretary in that state?  She is not even qualified for any post. As for her being the Permanent Secretary, I am seriously praying for Bayelsa.
Chukwuemeka Okpala
But really, what does our constitution says about it? Because that is what matters and not the public opinion. By my own opinion, I will say it’s not right, that it’s wrong, but if the constitution permits it, then there is nothing anybody can do about it. I have watched one TV programme where the discussants argued that our constitution permits it, so for that reason, there is nothing anybody can do about it.
Chioma Anazodo, Teacher
In my opinion, the appointment is wrong. I think other people should be given that opportunity, afterall she is the First Lady. She should concentrate on being the First Lady.
Marilyn Agbo, Youth corp member
I don’t see any reason why she should be the Permanent Secretary of Bayelsa State because I think she has enough to do as the First Ladyof the Federal Republic of Nigeria at the federal level rather than her  concentrating on the activities in one state. In fact, what she is doing will just be dividing her attention as the First Lady and as the Permanent Secretary of Bayelsa State.
Okeke Ralph
That after leaving the civil service for more than a decade she became the Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa did not  surprised me; this country is not a straight forward country so at any time anything of this nature can happen.
Chika Okpewo
In fact, I don’t know what to say. There are other people who deserve that position than the First Lady. This development shows the type of politics going on in the country, where people get positions through “order from above”. Such practices will not move this nation forward at all. Positions should be attained by merit. We still remember that Dame Patience Jonathan also got an (undeserved) degree from the University of Port Hacourt via similar dubious process. We have many bprofessors as well as top ranking government officials who are better worthy candidates for the position of the Permanent Secretary of Bayelsa State instead of the First Lady.
