A
50-year-old man, Tajudeen Omole, has been arraigned before an Osogbo
chief magistrate’s court for allegedly having carnal knowledge of a
12-year-old girl.
Tajudeen, the accused person was said to have committed the offense on November 27, 2013 at 1, Ikolaba, Osogbo, Osun State.
It was gathered that the accused committed the crime when he went to this victim's house and ask after her sister who he claimed was his friend but the sister was not in the house, so he took advantage and cunningly lured the girl into her room where he allegedly defiled her.
It was further gathered that although the girl attempted to scream for help, she was over powered.
The girl, thereafter, reported the case to those she found around the house. The suspect was later arrested by the residents who handed him over to the police.
The Police prosecutor, Inspector Solomon Oladele, told the court that the offence committed was punishable under section 218 of the criminal code cap 34 vol II laws of Osun State Nigeria, 2003.
Counsel to the accused, Mr. Okobe Nagite, applied for the bail. Presiding magistrate, Mr. Olusola Aluko, in his ruling ordered that the accused be remanded in Ilesha prison while counsel to the accused is to file a formal application for his bail.
