A Pennsylvania teenager has been accused of beating and raping a 70-year-old nun in the parking lot of a Roman Catholic church.
The incident took place on Friday outside St. Titus Church, located near Pittsburgh.
According to report, the 18-year-old teenager, identified as Andrew Bullock had asked the nun if she needed help which she declined and thanked him. He was said to have grabbed the nun's neck, choked and punched her, before raping her.
The Police said the nun could not speak when they first arrived because of a dislocated lower jaw, but she managed to write down on a piece of paper that she had been raped. She was reportedly taken to a local hospital, where she was able to speak with police before surgeons worked to fix her jaw.
Bullock was caught by the authorities through a description, as well as a shoe imprint found at the scene of the attack.
Bullock was said to have confessed to the crime after being questioned by officers.
He was later ordered by a judge to be held in lieu of $50,000 bond on charges of felony rape, aggravated assault, sexual assault, as well as a raft of other, misdemeanor charges.
In a statement by The Sisters of St. Joseph, they expressed their sadness over the incident.
"We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the assault of one of our Sisters.
“As we offer continued prayers of healing for our Sister, we also pray for the young man who has been arrested in the assault.”
