Signs that former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is still nursing ambition of becoming Nigeria’s President came to the fore yesterday as 2015 presidential election posters bearing his portrait surfaced on the streets of the nation’s capital city, Abuja.
Although the posters which did not carry the name or logo of any political party had the following inscription, “inspired by Change, Turaki Network for Change, TNC, Atiku Abubakar GCON (Turaki Adamawa) Bigger Challenges Greater Opportunities.”
The posters were sponsored by the Turaki Network for Change (TNC).
Atiku, who has not formally declared interest to contest the 2015 Presidential election, has also never hidden his passion for Nigeria and a desire to occupy the highest office in the land led him to the defunct Action Congress (AC) where he vied for office of president against his former boss – Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s anointed candidate, former Katsina State governor, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who won the highly controversial poll but later died in office.
Atiku is presently a member of the National Executive Committee, NEC of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, but speculations are rife that registration of the Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM, as a political party is part of the former VP’s plan to have a ready platform to realize his presidential ambition should he fail to get the PDP ticket.
As at the time of compiling this report, there has been no word from the media office of the former vice-president on the sudden appearance of Atiku’s campaign posters in Abuja.
