Imoke Suspends Executives For Absence At HIV/AIDS City Walks

The Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke, has suspended 21 Executive members indefinitely without pay for not attending the 2013 city walks against HIV/AIDS.

The governor said that the suspension would serve as a deterrent to political office holders who shy away from attending government functions.

The annual event is aimed at creating awareness on the stigmatisation of those living with HIV/AIDS in the society.

At the end of a four kilometre walk to mark the World AIDS Day, Imoke said it had become a tradition in the state to create awareness on HIV/AIDS.

Imoko was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Obioma Liyel Imoke, Deputy Governor, Mr. Efiok Cobham and wife Glory Cobham and members of the State House of Assembly and Executive Council.
