3SC’s Francis Paul Ruled Out of the Rest of CHAN.

Sunshine Stars midfielder Ikenna Paul will be sidelined for the rest of Super Eagles matches at the ongoing African Nations tournament with a torn hamstring, team officials have disclosed.

Paul suffered a muscle strain during Eagles training ahead of Wednesday’s game against Mozambique as Kano Pillars’ Shehu Abdullahi came in for the injured midfielder in the win. He sat out Thursday’s training.

“Ikenna Paul has a torn hamstring, which will sideline him for up to six weeks,” said team spokesman Ben Alaiya.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Francis, who suffered a knock during the opening day loss to Mali, has shown signs of improvement.

Francis, alongside Ugonna Uzochukwu, who had also been sidelined, went through their paces during Thursday’s session.

“We are positive that the players would pick up because the signs are positive with regards to Ugonna and Benjamin,” added Alaiya.

The Super Eagles team B face South Africa on Sunday in a must win Group A encounter set for 6pm (Nigerian time).
