According to Majiya, 12 other persons were injured and were admitted at the Mallam Aminu Kano Teaching hospital (AKTH) for treatment.
“The identity, motives and target of the assailants are yet to be established, investigation has already commenced,” the statement revealed.
The police also said there was an exchange of fire with attackers, which led to the death of three persons and injuring of 12 others.
Some gunmen had on Tuesday attacked Muslims faithful while observing their last prayer (Isha’i) at Kwankwaso village which is nearby the state governor’s father palace.
The gunmen said to have chanted “Allah Akbar” (Allah is great) when they opened fire indiscriminately on the people, while praying inside the mosque.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the area with a view to tracking down the fleeing hoodlums.
Armed policemen had also been deployed in all the roads leading to the village as part of the measures to enhance security in the area.
