Newly-crowned Confederation of African Football (CAF) Player of the Year for 2013, Yaya Toure, has lauded Chelsea FC midfielder, John Mikel Obi, for his contribution throughout the year in review.
The 30-year-old said the Super Eagles playmaker “deserves the award” shortly after he was announced as the winner.
“This is unbelievable,” Toure said. “I am happy to be the winner. I congratulate Mikel who deserves it too. To be the winner was unbelievable. I thank all who supported me. I am very, very proud.”
Mikel finished as runner-up while Ivoirian striker, Didier Drogba, was third in the race to the crown.
